{phfr} - Late July Edition

If any of you follow me on Instagram, I apologize for my redundancy here on the blog.  What can I say?  I don't have much more than this right now.

{pretty}

On one of my husband's work trips a year or two ago, he was sent to a Pacific island and brought me back this pretty piece of coral.  He's traveling again this week and it seems like forever until he returns again (actually it's just until Monday, I'm pregnant and hormonal and...do I need any other reason to be dramatic?) and this small thing has been a source of comfort.
 {happy}
I finally finished the little crochet bag I was working on (and I finished our project we started way back in Lent too!).  It's not a very useful bag, but I learned a lot...

...and my girls like it, so...Happy!
 {funny}
I don't have any funny pictures to show, so how about a little story.  When my husband is traveling I have a very difficult time sleeping.  I feel like I am perpetually on call, and really I suppose I am.  Every noise I hear wakes me up.  Every. Single. Noise.  It's been three days of this and I am TIRED.  So the first night Dan was gone, I had finally gotten to sleep.  Around 2:30 am I heard a noise that sounded a bit like Fritter, so I decided to get up and investigate.  Sure enough, there was my son coming back to his room from the kitchen.  "What are you doing?!" I asked in a not very calm at all way.  "Eating chocolate," was the answer I got.  "From where?!" again not so calm.  "From the fridge," as if I should have known that all along.
Apparently, my big boy had woken up in the middle of the night and had a bit of a hankering for chocolate syrup and so proceeded to drink some from the bottle before venturing back off to bed.
Yeah.  Funny.
{real}
My husband is gone, it's hot outside, our baby pool has a couple of big holes in it, so this is the best I could come up with for activity the other afternoon while I sat in the shade with ice water.  Pathetic, but they had fun and that's what matters.

Oh, friend, I hear you on the lack of sleep! I've been sleeping terrible all week (typical for me, too, when Paul is gone), but it's partly my own fault. I've been staying up too late binge-watching Call the Midwife. Also known as crying over my bowl of ice cream. I hate going to bed alone, so I keep putting it off for just one more episode. And then I sleep restlessly for the remainder of the night. Not a great formula for solo parenting.

No late night syrup eaters here, as far as I know, hehe.

Dan and I just finished watching Call The Midwife before he left. Yes to crying over ice cream. I'll pray for you, you pray for me. Here's hoping for sleep!

Cmerie! Luke is gone this week too! I guess it must be traveling husband week! He left Tuesday and will get back Saturday afternoon. Anyhow, I am right with you! I do hate going to bed alone. I have been staying up way to late reading myself to sleep;) I had to laugh about Fritter -that is totally something my Shawn would do!
Your pictures are beautiful, as is your sweet family! May God bless you and may the time fly by till your hubby returns!

Kate, I'm sorry Luke is gone this week as well. Traveling husband week indeed! I'll pray that you get sleep tonight as well and Saturday comes quickly. Maybe Shawn and Fritter can one day have a syrup eating party together. ;) I wish we lived closer so that was possible.
