I mentioned awhile back I was planning on making apple butter with our lovely apples. Well, between me not feeling all that great and...well that's it, I just got around to it today. Thankfully the apples kept pretty well in the fridge. I did all the prep work yesterday morning, because I knew if I waited until the afternoon I would never get to it. Then right before bed, I plugged in the crockpot and turned it on low. We awoke this morning to the lovely scent of apples.
I have always thought small jars of jam all lined up (on someone else's counter of course, as I've never canned before today) were pretty. That was before I made my own small jars of goodness. They are b-e-a-utiful!
This one is probably full enough for the seal to...seal, but I'm just assuming it's not. As soon as this baby cools, it's going on some toast. The real test will be to see how long it will last in a house that has been smelling apples all day. :)

Looks so yummy! I know what you mean about looking at jars or food that you have cooked in your kitchen. It's nice to see your bounty and hard work and see it as beautiful love art. God bless!
Hurray!!! They look so beautiful. And I am certain they will be very tasty as well.:)

Mmm...They are SO good. I had to pull myself away from it already once. Must. manage. self. control. :)
Kate, it was your encouragement that it would be easy and to use the crockpot that finally enabled me to talk myself into doing it. I had a cup of tea for you today.
Aw, thank you, my friend. Here's to many more years of delicious homemade apple butter! ~Good thing I wasn't there helping you sample it.....my self control hasn't really been operating properly lately....but I would have loved to be able to share some tea with you! Someday...
