I'm Smitten

I have been for almost three years now, but if there was ever any doubt, tonight clinched the deal.

It was raining, which doesn't happen very often in the desert region of Arizona. So I went in to get Fritter who was almost asleep. But, hey, it's rain and I knew he'd enjoy seeing it. Dh, Fritter, and I gathered on the back porch to watch the rain when there was a big bolt of lightening and soon a loud clap of thunder. Fritter smiled and said, "It's a monster!" Then he put his little hand on my cheek, looked me in the eye and said, "No mama, it's not a monster, it's thunder."

My hubby had to sweep up my melted heart. ;-)

When I put him back in bed, I kissed him and said goodnight. Again, he put his little hand on my cheek and softly said, "Goodnight Mama."

Yep, definitely smitten.

Cloth Diapering Help?

I'm thinking of diving head first into cloth diapers. Including maybe putting Fritter in them, or not. We are going to start potty training (again) once his dad gets back from his 6 week business trip *sigh*. So maybe I'll just save the cost there and keep him in disposables until he's trained. Then again, I'll need the bigger sizes eventually, so I could go all the way right now.

Anyway, that wasn't the point of this post. There are so many options out there for cloth diapering, that I'm getting a little overwhelmed. For those of you who use cloth diapers I could use your advice. Please? Pretty please?

Monday "Un-blues"

Oh Monday. You think you can get me down. You're wrong. I refuse to let you get to me.

I will smile despite the fact that it took me an hour outside the store to figure out how to close the new stroller.

I will grin when the toddler gets ink all over my shirt, because I can change and he's having so much fun with the stamps.

I will speak soothingly to the baby when she won't nap.

I will use my personal time during the kids naps to clean the house, instead of napping myself.

And when I go grocery shopping tonight, even though I'll be tired, I'll greet all those I meet with a pleasant look.

You can try Monday, but you won't best me.

As Long As No One Writes In Pink

Our computer monitor has decided to go a little haywire. Last evening, I was searching for a double stroller on Craigslist, when all of a sudden the computer screen developed pink lines all over it. I called my husband in, thinking I broke something, and he mumbled something about a video card and walked away. So whether it's a video card or something else, we can still use the computer. But if I happen upon a page written in pink, I'm in trouble.

Banana Pie

I'm not sure if using someone else's recipe makes me eligible for the pie contest at Faith & Family Live, but this is a picture of the Dulce de Leche Banana Pie I made for dessert tonight. The recipe was borrowed from Margaret and the crust was made using Danielle's recipe (my first ever, and I think it turned out good!).

*Edited to add: I just looked at some of the other entries, and I think I'm in trouble! ;-)

Dinner Tonight

I've been thinking a lot about food lately. Michelle's post started it, and once I found a farm near us I told my hubby about it. We are both excited and can't wait until the fall season starts so we can enjoy our farm fresh produce.

We've also altered our menu planning a bit, which was prompted by one of Jennie's posts. I decided to take her idea of No Matter What Wednesday and make it our own. So for dinner tonight, I've been haunting blogs and copying recipes and now that the kids are napping, I'm thinking it's time to get to work. Our entire meal comes from three different ladies blog posts, (four different recipes) and I'm excited to see what my family thinks of it (or myself for that matter).

The Grey Tooth Saga

Do you remember me mentioning that one of Fritter's teeth had turned grey and the dentist said he may loose it? Fritter had a follow up appointment to check on his tooth. Not only is the color getting better (it's still grey, but it's better), but the tooth has firmed back up in his gums. The doctor thinks he's going to keep it now! He said the color will take a while to get back to normal, but he's going to keep it. Thanks be to God. I was so worried that he would loose it and face problems later when his adult teeth came in.

The one issue we're faced with now from this is that Fritter has developed the habit of chewing on his hands. The dentist said that while his tooth was healing it felt good for him to chew, and now it's become a habit. He has always sucked his thumb, which I'm fine with, but now he's always got a hand in his mouth. This could become interesting come flu season.

Wyoming Trip - Part 3 (The End)

Part 1 is here
Part 2 is here

We got into Billings that afternoon, and while I settled into our hotel, my dear husband went to the rehearsal (he was a groomsman). I knew that the wedding was the next day (Friday) at 11 and then the reception was at 3. I didn't want grumpy kids for the reception, so I talked to the people at the hotel front desk and asked if we could delay checkout until 3ish so I could come back after the wedding and give the kids a nap. We were willing to pay extra (once upon a time I was a maid in a hotel and knew the kind of inconvenience a late checkout could bring), but the hotel would have none of it. I explained my situation, but they told me the latest they could do was 11.
.
So the kids got a small nap right before we left for the wedding, and I planned on staying in the cry room the entire time. ;-)
.
It was a very pretty wedding, and was so good to see our dear friend Mr. S so happy. The reception was pretty too. We saw many friends we hadn't seen since leaving college, and Fritter found a friend of his own. Bad picture, sorry.
.
They danced and played together and had a great time.
.
When it was time for the garter toss, Fritter joined the group of eligible bachelors. That's him being lifted by another gentleman.
.

Do you see Fritter's little friend waiting in the background?
.
Ladybug found a sweetheart of her own. ;-)

We had to leave back to Wyoming that evening, but the kids slept most of the five hour drive, and Dh and I had a pleasant evening together.
.
We had a great time the next evening, the Fourth of July, and Fritter was fascinated with the fireworks. He still talks about them. "Going to see the fireworks at Grammas?" We had a little blip that afternoon, when Fritter decided it was time to be very grumpy at my hubby's cousins house, but mostly it was a good time.
.
The next day, we packed up and headed home, my husband driving his dad's old 1959 Edsel and me following in our car. It must have been a hot drive for my hubby, as we live in the desert region of Arizona and the Edsel does not have air conditioning, but in true hubby fashion he didn't complain. And the car did beautifully until about a mile or so from home. Even then, he was able to get it home without a tow truck.
.
We were happy to be home, and get settled back into our routine.
.
*Note: I apologize for this post taking so long. I've just written three excuses and deleted them all. Instead I'll tell you that I'm lazy and haven't been posting lately. How's that? ;-)

Can't Catch Me!

Ladybug has learned that "no touching" means "Let's see how fast I can crawl to get it before Mom catches me." I'm still faster than her. For now.

That grin looks sweet, but she's planning something. I know it.

The Great Wall of Fritter

Pictures

Well.

I tried to post a picture here today to let you know that we are still alive and kicking.

Blogger wouldn't let me.

But we are. Alive that is. And kicking too.

I'll try later.

4 Years

I love you, Nee.
*Editors Note: I'm a day late with the post. Our anniversary was actually yesterday.
